As a lover of folktales and mythology, I wanted to share a folktale of the origin of the Philippine national flower, the Sampaguita. The part of the story that this piece is inspired by is when the prince tells the princess his promise to return to her. Sumpa Kita is Tagalog for "I Promise", where the name Sampaguita derives from.
